Amanda

Unparalleled Humour

Amanda was diagnosed with a brain tumour at the age of 3.  While undergoing surgery to remove the tumour, Amanda had a stroke, which caused paralysis of her left side and speech impairment.  For six months, Amanda lived at Bloorview Kids Rehab for intensive therapy and rehabilitation to re-learn everything, from speaking to gripping her toys.  By the time she was discharged, Amanda was able to sit alone, crawl and walk with a walker (with some assistance), and speak slowly.  She very clearly and quickly regained her unparalleled sense of humour and her impressive vocabulary.   One year after being discharged from Bloorview, Amanda attends kindergarten, and recently even started taking some walking steps on her own!
